Top Moments: Akademikos favored to Three-peat in Mathematical Olympics

March 20, 2023. Twenty-nine (29) newly-awarded medals to San Juan City Academic Senior High School students from "Siam International Mathematics and Science Olympics 2023 National round.

Once again, Mr. Adrian P. Monilla, the school's teacher-coach, has shown beyond doubt the efficacy of his school-based innovation program. For three consecutive competitions, the SJCA-SHS garnered SJCA-SHS garnered a 100% winning rate.


In SIMSO- MATH CATEGORY, the students garnered nine silver medals, eleven bronze medals, and one achiever medal, for a total of twenty-one medals.

In SIMSO-SCIENCE CATEGORY, the students reaped two gold, four silver, and two bronze medals for eight awards.

The product of Determination. Discipline. Diligence is a 100% success!

In the previous months, students clinched one gold medal, thirty-two silver medals, and two bronze from the following International Mathematical contest:

  • Guangdong- Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad (BBB) medals, for a total of thirty-five last December 04, 2023.

  • Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO), the students obtained one gold medal, nine silver medals, and twenty-three bronze medals for a total of forty-three awards last October 23, 2022, whom Mr. Monilla (teacher/coach) constant guidance and fondness in teaching and students.

In less than a year, the school bagged over 100 medals in the National Round of Mathematics and Science Olympics.


This achievement is historic for both the school and the division office. As a result, the school-based innovation program exceeded its expectation.

A Glimpse of Intensive Training Preparation for Mathematical Olympiad.

The success of San Juan City Academic Senior High School is attributed to the immense motivation of its School Head, Dr. Rina A.Angeles, and also to the full support of Schools Division Office-San Juan City under the leadership of Dr. Cecille G. Carandang, CESO VI (Superintendent), Dr. Buenafe E. Sabado (Assistant Superintendent), SGOD Chief Dr. Dominique Rivera, EPS- Mathematics Ms. Helen Acedo, EPS- Science Dr. Bradley Loo, and Partner Supervisor Ms. Marnelli B. Tolentino. Moreover, the unwavering support of the local government headed by the esteemed City Mayor Hon. Francisco Javier M. Zamora also inspired the students to persevere and conquer the international arena to give prestige and excellence to the quality of education that is offered in the public schools in San Juan City.
