Ronquillo bags bronze and silver medals in the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO)

Eldrich Jeymz R. Ronquillo, a grade 2 pupil of Salapan Elementary School, received a bronze medal in the Heat Round of the competition conducted by Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) on May 23,2021 and a silver medal in the Final Round held on August 28,2021.


The event was organized by Olympiad Champion Education Centre (OCEC) and was hosted by Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO). Former Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad Team Leader Mr. Wong Tin Chun organized HKIMO to promote Mathematical Olympiad all over the world.


The examination paper consists of five main topics: Logical Thinking, Arithmetic (Kindergarten / Primary Section) / Algebra (Secondary Section), Number Theory, Geometry and Combinatorics.

Ronquillo competed with the participants from the other parts of our country and those who came from Bulgaria, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Kyrgyztan, Brazil, Iran, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, China, Azerbaijan, and Australia through the online platform EKLAWYA.


Mrs. Jennelyn R. Ronquillo, the coach, Mr. Jojo C. Valdez, the Mathematics coordinator, Mrs. Florence C. Ares, the principal and the teachers of Salapan Elementary School attended the online virtual awarding ceremony premiered on June 23, 2021(Heat round) and October3, 2021 (Final round).
