Aging Gracefully at DepEd San Juan City

Philippine Association of Retired Teachers Representatives with Ms. Ana Marie Hernandez, Ms Amelia R. Canlas (via Gmeet) and Dr. Helen G. Padilla

The SDO San Juan conducted a short but meaningful seminar for the probable retirees both for teaching and non-teaching personnel. The TWG team prepared the SDO Conference Hall making sure that all were properly working. The event was hosted by Danica Mae D. Rivera, Education Program Specialist II. Our Schools Division Superintendent Cecille G. Carandang, CESO VI, gave a welcoming remark while some of the school heads were present at the event like: Mr. Vito L. Mengote, Ms. Hernanda Santos, Ms. Lucila Artuyo, Ms. Helen Acedo, and Mr. Cesar Camayra, to name a few. Philippine Association of Retired Teachers (PARE) representatives who were also former teacher here at SDO San Juan, were also present at the event.

The highlights of the event were when the able speakers started sharing and giving their talks, especially upon the convergence of the Face-to-Face discussion and the Virtual discussion. The first speaker was Ms. Fernandina V. Viray, a representative from the PARE, a former teacher at San Juan National High School, an International Awardee, and a Writer. She talked more about the life of her previous colleagues and how they are trying to cope with their retirement life. The second speaker via Gmeet, has 35 years of professional experience in theater, film, radio, advertising, public relations, and the broadcasting industry, in general, which had allowed her to use her talents and skills as a speaker and workshop facilitator, and her name is Ms. Amelia R. Canlas. Though she is currently based in Canada, she still managed to spare her time just in sharing her expertise to the participants. She tackled more about the principles of aging as she coined the term “PRIDE” in Age and explained every detail of her topic. It was, indeed, a suitable subject for the seasoned employees.

The closing remark was given by Dr. Helen G. Padilla, CID-Chief, as she expressed her gratitude to both speakers as well as the time exerted by the seasoned teachers who were present at the event. The program ended with a picture of the group.
