Academic SHS on the Rise of Research Writing

March 15, 2023. A new breed of school teacher-researchers of San Juan City Academic Senior High School from the Division of San Juan were among the grantees of the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) 2023. It was the lone school in San Juan City with BERF grantees in 2023.


As issued in the result in the Regional Memorandum No. 149 dated March 15, 2023, the BERF grantees were five teachers from San Juan Academic Senior High School: Leo Paolo Dilay, Teacher III; Mark Anthony Galacan, Teacher II; Peah Fegal, Teacher I; Jose Vallo Jr., Teacher II and Jermel Diaz, Teacher II and Dr. Jonas Feliciano C. Domingo from the Curriculum Implementation Division.

BERF Grantees 2023

This result is in conjunction with school-based in service-training last February 2023 entitled, Empowering Education Through Research with specific topic of Discussion , "Research" Fun+(d)" in the 21st Century: Research is like a HU[a]M-BURGER with Dr. Jonas Feliciano C. Domingo, and Action Research with Dr. Rina A. Angeles.


Indeed, the determination and willingness to be the agent of change is taking a new step positively.

Fast forward – Grantees were invited to attend the "Orientation for Qualifiers of 2023 Basic Education Research Fund (BERF)", which aimed to guide the qualifiers and further brief the proponents about the necessary documents at the start and at the completion of their research. Another topic was their roles and responsibility as researchers and the guidelines to follow in conducting the research. Lastly, they were briefed on how to utilize the research funds properly.

The teacher-researchers were filled with immense gratitude for the support of its OIC-Principal, Dr. Rina Angeles, together with Dr. Aileen Tuzon, as division research manager for giving technical assistance. Furthermore, the division of San Juan has constantly encouraged all teachers and personnel during seminars and training to conduct research that will address the learners' needs and draw on the ingenious solution that would promote effective teaching & learning experience. The success of these research endeavors would be genuinely beneficial to the school and its stakeholders.
