“Bayanihan”, a simple word yet so powerful which Deped wanted to promote as it drives the opening of the 2019 edition of the Brigada Eskwela or the School Maintenance Week last May 21, 2019 at Pinaglabanan Elementary School, San Juan city. This event was participated by more than a thousand diversed volunteers, all bearing in mind and heart the theme of this year’s Brigada Eskwela, “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan.”

Through the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD), the event commenced on a Motorcade Caravan of 80 vehicles from Schools, Barangays, partners such as Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Red Cross, Eastwest Bank, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and City Unit Vehicles. Guevara St. and ends in front of Pinaglabanan Elementary School.

Some public schools distributed fliers to the community as their way of advertising the schedules of enrollment, requirements as well as Alternative Learning System (ALS). It was an hour and a half journey.

Following the motorcade is the official division kick – off in Pinaglabanan Elementary Covered Court. Representatives from different public and private sectors witnessed the said event as they signed in the wall of Pledge of Commitment on Brigada Eskwela.
