TRANSITIONING LEARNERS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (LSENs) TO VOCATIONAL PREPAREDNESS
The transitioning learners with special educational needs (LSENs) to vocational preparedness was conducted last 4 March to 5 April 2019 in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) San Juan Skills and Livelihood Training Center in the Hilot Wellness Massage Training at the Flying V Arena, San Juan City. The program was designed to engage the skills of LSENs in livelihood activities headed by Mrs. Elsa L. Gella, Division SpEd Coordinator with assistance from Ms. Marianne N. Ungria, Training Center Administrator of TESDA- San Juan.
Chief – CID Dr. Hellen Padilla mentioned that LSENs should be given equal opportunity to be equipped with the necessary skills in order to be gainfully employed and thus, lead productive lives in the future. Gratitude filled the hearts of the parents, LSENs and SpEd teachers for the 20 day-session training that capacitated the joyful participants.
In closing, Division SpEd Coordinator, Mrs. Elsa L. Gella reiterated that the advocacy of SDO San Juan will continue to help LSENs gain more knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need for work. This will enable them to gain respect and uphold their dignity, rights, and welfare in as much as they enjoy the same equal rights as the others who are perceived to be normal in the standards of society. She further stated, “Nais nating mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga batang may kapansanan upang maging produktibo at makapagtrabaho.”
