SDO – SJ HOLDS CAREER ORIENTATION FOR ALS PASSERS ON VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL


The career orientation for ALS Passers on Senior High School Voucher Program was conducted last 23 May 2019 at the Division Conference Hall. The orientation was designed to provide relevant information including requirements for participation, procedure, and schedule on the Senior Voucher Program for ALS.


The Senior High School Voucher Program is one of the several initiatives of the government to make basic education accessible for the Filipino learners nationwide. It is a financial assistance program to enable qualified Grade 10 completers to pursue their desired Senior High School education in private schools and local universities and colleges that offers Senior High School Program. One hundred ten (110) out of two hundred seventy two (272) passers of the A & E Test given last February 2019 participated in the said activity.


As per DepEd, the Qualified Voucher Applicant shall receive a subsidy on their tuition and other schools fees. The amount of which will depend on the category of the quality voucher application and the location of school where the student is enrolled. The SHSVP aims to provide access Senior High School for greater choice for learners relative to their needs and career goals. Participants in the program from National Capital Region shall receive as a subsidy ranging from P 18,000.00 to P 22,500.00 for those enrolling in private schools and P 11,200.00 for those enrol in SUCs/LUCs.


Participants in the orientation included ALS passers and representatives from different State Universities and Colleges. Other participants were representatives from private institutions like Jose Rizal College, STI Colleges, Doro Deus Integrated School, TIP- Manila and Central College of the Philippines. Mr. Erwin C. Dela Cruz, Education Program Specialists in-charge of ALS Program discussed with the participants DepEd Order no. 10 s. 2019-2020. On the other hand, the representatives of private schools and Non-DepEd schools took turns to showcase their schools to provide the ALS learners option where they can avail of their desired High school Program.
