SDO San Juan City Brigada Eskwela 2019 Sparks with a Stakeholders Fun Run

The SDO San Juan City steered a Fun Run activity for the kick off of Brigada Eskwela 2019 last May 19, 2019 at the San Juan City Government Center Grounds.

The Fun Run aims to promote Brigada Eskwela as a vehicle of “Bayanihan in Schools” to all the stakeholders of the city to increase community social mobilization for greater impact. Likewise, it adheres to this year’s theme- “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan”.

The event was witnessed and participated in by parents, students, teachers and school heads from the 8 Elementary Schools and 4 High Schools in the Division of San Juan, and different stakeholders (Barangay Officials, Members of PNP, BFP, TPMO, and CDRRMO). It was hosted by the San Juan City Science High School (JuanSci), headed by the Officer-In-Charge, Dr. Jay F. Macasieb, with the assistance of JuanSci Parent-volunteers led by Mrs. Maricelle P. Gamboa.

At the actual event, there was a moment of anxious feeling due to the inclement weather. The event became magical with the pouring of water from heaven as a sign of blessing.

Mr. Cesar Camayra, Principal III of San Juan National High School, urged the participants to wait for the rain to stop and to push through with the event. “This Fun Run means a lot to us and the stakeholders of the Division of San Juan”, he said. “Be calm and pray for the success of this event. For a moment, let us have some fun by doing the Zumba”, he added.

Miraculously, the heavy rain stopped and the sun shone brightly, signalling the Fun Run to “run” literally.

True enough, all the participants, including re-elected City Councilor, Hon. Vincent Pacheco, were already in their posts imbibing positivity and ready to run. But due to the wet roads, they were instructed to just walk to avoid untoward incidents. Everyone was excited because finally the long awaited signal was finally heard- the start of the Fun Run

Mika Joselle Manankil, incoming Grade 11 of San Juan National High School (Senior High), remarked, “This is my first fun run, and I am excited for this.

I am happy that I participated in this event. In this little way, I helped my school to promote Brigada Eskwela and at the same time I am into fitness regime”.

It was indeed a remarkable event for the Division of San Juan to initiate the first-ever fun run activity in the division. Stakeholder’s Fun Run is one of the Activities propelled by our OIC-SDS, Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez, for the division-wide Brigada Eskwela 2019.
