Salapan Elementary School Teacher Bags “2019 Natatanging Guro Award”


The Natatanging Guro Award of Excellence has just been bestowed by the City Government of San Juan to one of the best teachers in the division last March 27, 2019 on the occasion of the “Araw ng San Juan” celebration held at the Atrium of the City Government Center. This year’s theme - "Sama-samang ipagdiwang ang larawan ng pagkakaisa ng San Juan" imbibes the ideals and aspirations of the city of a “solid” governance tightly-knitted in the spirit of integrity, service and unity.

This year’s awardee, Mrs. Susan L. Gohil of Salapan Elementary School was assisted on stage by Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez, OIC-SDS, as she receives her handsome trophy.

The awardee passed through stringent selection measures that include document evaluation of competence and merit, interview and demonstration teaching which were all carried out by competent Education Program Supervisors. Among the other eight candidates for this category, she emerged ahead on points.

The “Gabi ng Parangal” has been electrified even more by the presence of other awardees, LGU officials and other luminaries who shared the same excitement and anticipation as the City Government, as part of the City’s Charter Day Anniversary, recognizes its constituents, business institutions, NGOs, local government employees, teachers who have excelled in their field of endeavor giving honor to the City and contributing to its vision as the City of Excellence.

“This is a life-changing award that embodies significant responsibility as a teacher and as a San Juaneño. I am so grateful!”, Mrs. Gohil said in an interview. “The other aspirants were equally competent and deserving. Maybe, I was just lucky”, she added.

The Natatanging Guro Award is awarded to a teacher currently teaching in the City of San Juan (Private or Public School) regardless of number of years in service in recognition for his/her meritorious achievement in his/her field of endeavor which contributed to the advancement of his/her field of interest. This award is one of the seven (7) categories that the city recognizes as part of the outstanding achievement of San Juaneños in various fields like business institutions, NGOs, local government employees and teachers which have benefited significantly the City.
