Contextualized Learning Materials in Mathematics for Grades 1 to 10 Up for Validation and Quality A
The SDO San Juan Math Writers, as the group was fondly named, had the Validation of the Contextualized Learning Materials in Mathematics for Grades 1 to 10 at Linden Suites Pasig last January 26-27, 2019.
The activity familiarized the thirty-five (35) writers from elementary school, high school, and senior high school with the guidelines on Learning Resource Management Development System (LRMDS), elicited feedback on various features of the Teachers’ Guide and Session Guides and provided a venue for participants and guests to exchange ideas on how to make the materials effective and relevant to the intended users of the materials.
Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics, Mrs. Helen S. Acedo, was astounded by the immense support of the of SDO people, especially the OIC-SDS of the Division of the City of San Juan, Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez, and Education Program Supervisor in LRMDS, Mr. Orlando D. Claor, in the activity. They both expressed their joy in the project at work.
“I really feel indebted to their overwhelming support. Even during the time of Dr. Joel T. Torreampco, our former SDS, he really believed in this project and he propelled us to work on it as soon as possible, quipped Mrs. Acedo.
Other guests in the two-day stay at Linden were the OIC-ASDS, Mrs. Flordelisa D. Pereyra, Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, Dr. Helen G. Padilla, and San Juan National High School Principal, Mr. Cesar Camayra, who all shared their positive remarks to the participants and their high hopes for the success of the event.
“The result of the three-Saturday writeshop on Contextualization, Localization and Indigenization of Learning Materials in Mathematics held last August 25, September 1 and 8, 2018 at the SDO San Juan Conference Hall are now in the refining process. The start was never easy, but we are now on the next level. In God’s perfect time, all these materials will be perfect ones. It was really worth working with these smart and intelligent teachers,” remarked the Math supervisor.
Before the closing program, all the outputs were submitted to the EPS-LRMDS for the hand-over ceremony to be conducted the following Monday.
“Though the materials have to still undergo Quality Assurance, the group is hopeful that all of their outputs will soon be used by both teachers and learners as part of their lessons,” she added.
If these learning materials in Mathematics will hurdle the Quality Assurance, these will be the first ever contextualized learning materials that went through validation in the Division of the City of San Juan.
