The new breed of teacher and parent-leaders in promoting learners’ welfare in San Juan City took the herculean challenge as the beloved mayor of the city, Madam Guia G. Gomez, inducted them to their various posts last January 21, 2019 at the Audio-Visual Room of the San Juan National High School (SJNHS).

As the epitome of excellent public service herself, the beloved mayor encouraged the newly inducted officers to be steadfast in promoting “selfless-service” for the benefit of not only the learners but also for all the stakeholders who depend on the power of education as the greatest equalizer in the society. “These responsibilities you gallantly accepted will redound to the good academic performance of our learners in San Juan. Please accept my sincere thanks for you are all one with me in realizing this dream of making our city great through meaningful support for education”, Madam Guia said in her speech.

Representing Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez- OIC-SDS of SDO San Juan, Mr. Allan Eliezer M. Mal-In, Administrative Officer V, assisted the Mayor in bestowing the mantle of responsibility to the officers of the General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA) in all eight (8) elementary schools and the SJNHS-GPTA officers. There were close to 130 GPTA officers separately inducted that day by the indefatigable inducting officer whose duties as the “mother of the city” extends boundlessly even to the last classroom in San Juan.

Mr. Mal-In, in conveying Dr. Ibañez’ message, challenged the officers to carry out the ideals of public service when he told them, “Public service is a public trust. You are now all our collaborative partners in promoting a greater glory of selflessly serving the youth of San Juan”.

“The odds may be hard to come by in the realm of education. But with all of you backing us up and the solid partnership we have with the Local Government Unit (LGU), we will always thrive on positivity and possibilities in education”, he added.

Every school organizes PTA for the purpose of providing a forum for the discussion of issues and their solutions related to school programs, projects, and activities that promote the welfare of the learners. Such organization operating in school adheres to all existing policies and implementing guidelines issued by the Department of Education.
