Triumphant Division Science Fair 2018


Last September 28, 2018, the Division Science and Technology Fair 2018 was hosted by two neighboring schools-San Juan National High School and Pinaglabanan Elementary School headed by Mr. Cesar A. Camayra and Dennis M. Bacle, respectively. The registration of participants started at 6:30 am led by the Science Teachers of San Juan National High School. Participants from elementary and high school both from Public and Private Schools arrived in the venue with positive vibes and attitude. After the registration, they were instructed to go to their respective places in preparation for the parade. The parade was organized by Mr. Hernan L. Apurada with the help of the Science Club Officers of San Juan National High School. At past 8 o’clock in the morning, the parade started. The participants were led by the Lyre and Majorettes group from Kabayanan Elementary School. The group moved around the Division of San Juan and ended in the Covered Court of Pinaglabanan Elementary School that served as the venue for the opening program.

The program was hosted by Mrs. Asa Grace Manrique of Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy and Mr. Hernan L. Apurada of San Juan National High School. The Prayer and Nationalistic Song was led by the Special Science Class Choir. Welcome remarks were done by the two School Heads of the two venues, Mr. Cesar A. Camayra and Mr. Dennis M. Bacle. The Board of Judges of different events was introduced by Mrs. Michelle R. Cordovilla of SJNHS-Senior High School. Message and Statement of the Purpose was given by the out-going Education Program Supervisor in Science and currently the CID Chief, Dr. Helen Gamboa-Padilla. She highlighted her message with this statement “Science is the backbone for the development of a nation, thus youth/learners must embrace Science education to become scientifically, technologically, and environmentally literate and productive citizen of the society who are critical thinkers, informed decision-makers, problem-solvers, steward of nature and effective communicators”.

The first part of the program was ended by giving instructions to the participants their assigned rooms by the Masters of Ceremony. They were led by the Science Club Officers of San Juan National High School to their respective room assignments.

The second part of the program was the ribbon cutting at the ground floor of the SDO San Juan Building for the exhibits and Robotics Project. This was carried out by Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, OIC-SDS of SDO San Juan, Dr. Helen Gamboa-Padilla, and the guests. The Quiz Bee, Poster Making Contest, SIP Contest, Lakan and Lakambini ng Agham Elementary Level, and Robotics Contest were simultaneously conducted. The Quiz Bee was held at the Joseph Estrada Building (SSC Building). Poster Making Contest was done at the SDO Conference Hall. Lakan and Lakambini ng Agham Elementary Level and SIP Contest were simultaneously conducted at the Covered Court of Pinaglabanan Elementary School. The Lakan and and Lakambini ng Agham Secondary Level was done in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, awarding ceremony was done to conclude the Division Science and Technology Fair 2018 at the SDO Conference Hall. It was hosted by Mr. Ruel D. Liwanag and Mrs. Michelle R. Cordovilla. The closing ceremony was witnessed by the students, parents, teachers, coaches, and guests. The Over-all Champion for the Elementary level was Salapan Elementary School and the over-all champion for Secondary level was Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy.

It was indeed a worthy feat for all the students, teachers, and schools who participated in this big event of the Division. Congratulations and Mabuhay!
