The Schools Division of San Juan City and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines collaborated once again to unveil the second phase of the research partnership which was forged last July by staging the LGU-supported “Research Productivity and Capability Training” last September 06 to 08, 2018 at the Audio-Visual Room of San Juan National High School.
The participants were oriented and equipped with the tenets and basics of conducting action research which is an area where most teachers are in dire need of technical assistance. The research experts from PUP, headed by Dr. Junithesmer M. Rosales, Dean of the College of Education and Graduate Studies, offered a wide dimension of concepts, techniques and skills in coming up with a good research in the basic education arena.
The training is in response to SDO San Juan City’s commitment to continually adopt measures of strengthening the culture of research among the teaching and non-teaching personnel in the division with a clear vision of establishing data-driven and research-based policy guidelines which translates to better learning outcomes.
During the closing ceremony, one participant was quoted as saying, “This is a much-needed training for us to finally craft our action researches. I would like to thank our SDO officials headed by Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo and Mrs. Flordelisa D. Pereyra for this training. Also, thank you to our dear mayor, Guia G. Gomez, for the support we are always receiving especially in research activities like this”.
“This early, we would like to inform you that SDO San Juan City has laid down the culmination of your research efforts by holding the Research Festival this December which is, again, sponsored by the Local Government of San Juan City. That’s why you have to be prepared with your action researches for this event”, as revealed by Dr. Felicito M. Angeo, chief of the SGOD, in his speech before all the participants received their certificates.
The training strengthens the need of streamlining the provisions of DO No. 16, S. 2017 otherwise known as “Research Management Guidelines”. One of its stipulations is the forging of partnerships with academic and research institutions, government agencies, and other DepEd offices on education in order to help capacitate and enhance the research skills of the personnel in the field. That is why, maximizing the partnership with the largest university in the country as a research partner is an invaluable step towards this end of this order of the Department of Education as well as the Division of San Juan City when it comes to research.
