SDO SAN JUAN CITY RELISHES THE SPIRIT OF SELFLESS SERVICE THROUGH ITS CONTINUOUS COMMITMENT IN JOINI

The officials of SDO San Juan City poses with Hon. Nancy Binay, The SDO contingent as they troop the line during the Hon. Guia Gomez and Hon. Janella Ejercito 122nd anniversary of the Battle of Pinaglabanan

This is exactly the reason SDO San Juan City continuously gives importance to the annual commemoration of the Battle of Pinaglabanan because of the ideals and significance of this historic event wherein the people of San Juan City is blessed. This year’s theme: “Pinag-isa ng Kalayaan tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan” aptly highlights one of the 7-Point Agenda of the local government- KAUNLARAN which is also one of those deeply advocated by Mayor Guia G. Gomez during her term.

The SDO San Juan contingent was led by Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, OIC-SDS and Dr. Flordelisa D. Pereyra, OIC-ASDS, and accompanied by the Division Chiefs and Education Program Supervisors. During the occasion, the officials have pledged their relentless commitment to align their programs and projects to the ideals of the city in raising the level and quality of life of all San Juaneños through education.

And just like the instance in 1896 where Andres Bonifacio and his 800-strong yet poorly-armed Katipuneros faced the Spanish soldiers, Dr. Torrecampo led the SDO personnel, in a show of force and support, as they trooped the line in the symbolic parade from N. Domingo street to Pinaglabanan along with other Katipunero-like contingents from the 8 elementary schools, a combined troop from Senior and Junior high school and special contingents from the private schools.

The Battle of San Juan del Monte in Pinaglabanan sparked the flames of revolution and the cry for independence from the Spanish colonizers. And this spirit of selfless service is where the SDO officials steadfastly dedicated their untiring service in inculcating the lessons of history to the youth of San Juan.

The guest speaker, Sen. Nancy Binay, has bolstered the Spirit of Nationalism of those present by saying “Our Katipuneros fought for our freedom and that we are duty-bound to keep their aspirations in whatever we’re doing for the sake of the country”.
