MALIKHAING KABATAAN ART WORKSHOP

A total of 80 participants coming from pupils of elementary public and private schools, teachers, and Division Personnel headed by Araling Panlipunan Supervisor, Dr. Victoria M. Parambita, attended the Malikhaing Kabataan Art Workshop at the Museo ng Katipunan organized by Mr. Christian Bernard Melendez, Senior Curator of Museo ng Katipunan, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, National Historical Commission of the Philippines on June 30, 2018 at 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Mr. Melendez and his team taught the pupils some art works using clay modeling by making different kinds of bolo, itak, kutsilyo, and some amulets or anting-anting. They also learned to value discarded materials like the tissue rolls by making different kinds of faces of the katipuneros and katipuneras. They used acrylic painting to depict the different scenes during the battle of Pinaglabanan which is one of the major historical events that need to be celebrated yearly every August 30.

After the half-day activity, lunch was served to all the participants. It was a memorable event for the youth where they learned to appreciate our arts and history. It heightened their sense of creativity and nationalism as children age 7 – 12 years old became truly engaged with the artwork while exploring the rich history of Pinaglabanan Battle.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Pinaglabanan Elementary School with 15 pupils participated with their parents permit under the leadership of Ms. Maria Lilia A. Sanchez, MT – In – Charge in Araling Panlipunan Elementary School under the baton of Mrs. Lourdes Victoria M. Claor and the principals, Mr. Dennis M. Bacle and Ms. Marina F. Aunzo, who made the activity possible,” remarked Dr. Parambita as she narrated this experience during the weekly reporting of activities by the Division personnel.
