Salapan Elementary School Celebrates Nutrition Month 2017

“Health is wealth”. The SES school leaders, teachers, pupils and other stakeholders see truth in this statement that’s why they celebrated the Nutrition Month with the theme, “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life”. To inculcate the importance of health in the learners’ young minds and to promote healthy diets, the teachers integrated this in their daily lessons. Aside from this, Ms. Michelle Cielito C. Chua, the division nurse, gave an inspirational talk on July 14, 2017 at 7 a.m. at the school lobby.

For the pupils to be more health – conscious, a poster making contest was held. The representatives of the primary and the intermediate levels used their creativity to interpret the theme of the celebration and competed with each other. The enthusiastic contestants excitedly expressed their understanding of the celebration of course with the consideration of the given criteria for judging. They did their best with the hope that they will win in the said competition and will be awarded certificates.

On July 24, 2017, Salapan Elementary School had its culminating activity in celebration of the Nutrition Month. Together with the teachers, the pupils attending the A.M. sessions paraded around the barangay at 7:00 o’clock while those attending the afternoon classes had it at 1:00 p.m. They proceeded to the Salapan covered court for a simple program which showcased the pupils’ talents in dancing, acting, poem recitation and acrostic. It started with a prayer followed by the singing of the nationalistic song. Yours truly delivered opening remarks after which Ms. Michelle C. Chua, the division nurse, and Mrs. Amelita Panelo, the Education Program Supervisor in EPP / TLE gave their messages. Mrs. Ma. Lalaine C. Queda hosted the program in the morning and Mr. Anthony Q. Aguilar did it in the afternoon. The school leaders and the division leaders present awarded the winners in the poster making contest, the best performer that day as well as the class with the most meaningful classroom display. Mrs. Susana Dela Cruz , the school nutrition coordinator, congratulated the winners and gave the closing remarks.

The program ended but our mission to maintain a healthy lifestyle and encourage others to do the same remains. Like the children, we have to be constantly reminded to embrace a healthy lifestyle and eat a healthy diet. It was indeed a meaningful and memorable celebration. Congratulations to all! Stay healthy.
