SDO San Juan City Conducts GAD Training 2017


To promote gender equality in the workplace, the Schools Division Office of San Juan City recently conducted the Gender and Development (GAD) Training 2017 at Patio Acerado, Pansol Calamba Laguna, last June 2-3, 2017.

The two-day activity was participated in by the different division personnel composed of three categorized big units in the SDO; The Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) with Mr. Virgilio A. Santos as the Chief, School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) with Dr. Felicito M. Angeo as the Chief and the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent (OSDS) with Mr. Allan Eliezer M. Mal-In, Administrative Officer V as the unit head.

The Opening Program started with a Nationalistic Song and it was followed by an Invocation. The Welcome Remarks was given by Mr. Virgilio A. Santos, Chief-CID. The Overview of the Training was delivered by Dr. Felicito M. Angeo, Chief-SGOD. The Presentation of Participants was done by Mr. Joseph E. Villegas, Education Program Specialist II. All the participants were inspired by the message shared by Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, CESE, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent and also the Over-all Program Lead.

After the Opening Program, the team leaders gathered their team members for the series of training activities. The Red Team is composed of Mrs. Amelita C. Panelo-Team Leader and the members are the following; Hoffman Ibanez, Virginia M. Estrella, Jeffrey Pinto, Marie Xenia M. Cebu, Noel Abella and Elsa G. Gella. The Green Team is composed of Dr. Victoria M. Parambita-Team Leader , members; Michelle Faye B. Velasco, Jose M. Sarturio II, Melba B. Goc, Pedrito T. De Borja, Leivinel Fredalan and Lilian Banares. The Blue Team is composed of Mrs. Eulafel C. Pascual-Team Leader, members; Regina R. Mendoza, Leon R. Pangda, Ayaka Fujimoto, Zaide G. Rocillo, Danilo A. Castro Jr. and Ms. Leonides Malabanan. The Yellow Team is composed of Mrs. Helen G. Padilla-Team Leader, members; Anselmo B. Joven, Mary Ann C. Caingat, Avelino Tesorio, Jennifer L. Padron, Aida Luistro and Ferdinand Morada. The Orange Team is composed of Mrs. Helen S. Acedo-Team Leader, members; Tadeo Guzman, Jennifer Arellano, Jamin Luis Pablo, Releila A. Santos, Mary Ann Pante and Hergielyn Cerrodo.

The first part of the Day 1 activity was a lecture on Empowerment of Women in the 21st Century tackled by Dr. Emma A. Sendiong, Education Program Supervisor and Ms. Cielito C. Chua, Division Nurse/Focal Person In-Charge. The second part of the program was continued in the afternoon and the topic discussed was on Gender Equality in the Workplace with Dr. Susana S. Luceno, Education Program Supervisor as the discussant.

On the second day of the program, the GAD Training and Management Team come-up with various and dynamic games to sustain the interest and enthusiasm of the attendees. Hence, the management team composed of Ms. Michelle Cielito C. Chua, Mr. Orlando D. Claor and Mr. Joseph E. Villegas led the most engaged Group Dynamics. The concept of the activities were all relevant and in consonance with the theme of the program.

After engaging in several tasks both mentally and physically, the Blue Team headed by Mrs. Eulafel C. Pascual emerged as the over-all winner and they received cash prize for leading the group competition.

As for the impression of the participants for the training, majority of them said that they gained additional knowledge and become more sensitive on the issues discussed and commit themselves to practice gender equality in their workplace and they even look forward to have another fruitful activities such as these in the near future.

The conduct of the two-day Gender and Development (GAD) in SDO San Juan City is guided with the following objectives; Create a Data Base of Gender and Development Projects and Programs that were Implemented in the SDO, Analyze the Data Base of GAD Programs and Prepare a Comprehensive Report for Appropriate and Future Actions, and to Provide Recommendations that will guide the SDO as Basis for the Preparation of Strategic GAD Development Programs.

The Gender and Development (GAD) Training of SDO San Juan City was a success in its entirety because of the support of our local government through the initiative of our OIC- Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo.
