NCR Palaro 2016 kicks off at Muntinlupa
NCR Palaro is an annual sporting event to provide balance in education as this responds to the athletic sensibilities of students. SDO Muntinlupa served as the host city for this year with a theme, “Kabataang Manlalaro: Dangal, Galin, Gilas Ipamalas.” as articulated in DepEd Memo. No. 203, s. 2015 which released the details that would govern the conduct of the week-long duration of the activities.
DepEd San Juan converged at Festival Mall, Alabang for the Opening Program on February 8, 2016. Athletes, coaches, trainers, teachers, school heads, and Division personnel trooped to the assembly line in proud blue and pink ensemble sponsored by the City government of San Juan through the generosity of Hon. Mayor Guia G. Gomez. The delegates marched hand in hand in solidarity with the other divisions in the region to attend the opening ceremonies in marked sportsmanship as they gave their commitment to play by the rules in the different sporting events.
The host city organized a luncheon meeting for the Local Government officials and members of the Congress in recognition for their continued support on this endeavor. They were gathered at the Grand Ballroom of Crimson Hotel together with the DepEd leaders in each division. Hon. Congressman Rodolfo Biazon and Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi graced the affair and gave tokens of appreciation for all the guests of honors. OIC-SDS Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, SGOD Chief, Virgilio A. Santos and CID Chief, Dr. Lydia C. Abeja, came here in attendance along with the school heads in the public elementary and secondary levels and the MSEP Supervisor, Dr. Susan S. Luceno as the focal person of the said activity.
Regional Director, Dr. Ponciano A. Menguito gave his challenge to all the players and coaches to deliver their best as they compete against each other not only for the recognition but moreso, for the discipline to be instilled as a way of life regardless of what the results would be. Games were slated from February 8-13, 2016 in the different schools and sports facilities in and out of the city to determine who would qualify to the Palarong Pambansa later of this year.
