United Nations Day Celebration: Division Costume Parade Contest


United Nation Day is being celebrated every October each year. The aim is to make our 21st Century Learners aware of the different cultural diversity and heritage of the different Nations. This year Division City School of San Juan celebrated the event through Costume Parade Competition conducted last October 22, 2015 at the School Division Office Conference Room with the theme: “ Pandaigdigang Taon ng Kalupaan 2015”. The event showcases National Costume of the different Nations. Eight Public Elementary Schools were participated. Each school have 2 pupils participants, one from primary and another from intermediate. Highlighting the event is the presence of our ever energetic and amiable Assistant School Division Superintendent Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo as he gave his warm welcome to everyone.

As the contest started, all eyes are set to the candidates as they present their colorful costumes on the stage. Warm smile were shown by the primary grades candidates while confidence and style were evident to the Intermediate Pupil Candidates. Tough discussion was to be made by the ever competent judges namely: Mr Macoy Teruel choreographer, Ms. Vilma T. Pedilla our Division Librarian and Mr. Vicente V. Varon Program Specialist. Breaking the warm atmosphere within the conference room selected Grade IV pupils from Pinaglabanan Elementary School render intermission number then followed by inspirational message of our dear Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan Dr. Victoria M. Parambita.

The most awaited part is the announcement of winners which was done by Sir Macoy Teruel , chairman of the board of judges. Winners are as follows; Primary Level : 1st Place Ms. New Zealand Reese Jewel T. Camarillo from Salapan Elementary School 2nd place Ms. Brazil Angel Achas from Pedro Cruz Elementary School, 3rd Place Ms. Great Britain Xiane Hail C. Aglipay from San Perfecto Elementary School. Intermediate Level: 1st Place Ms. Puerto Rico Athazha Nicole B. Nuque from Sta. Lucia Elementary School 2nd Place Ms. Japan Izza De Luna from San Juan Elementary School and 3rd Place Ms. Russia Charisse Yvone Balane from Pedro Cruz Elementary School. Trophies and cash gifts were given to all the winners..
