Narrative Report on National Reading Month Celebration
“The more you read the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places that you will go.- Dr. Seuss”. This is the line that fits the superb celebration of SJNHS English Department as it celebrates National Reading Month in November 2015.
English Department brought the SJNHS community to the magical world of reading as they celebrated National Reading Month in November, an event declared by the Department of Education (DepEd) under its Memorandum No. 244 s 2011. It held programs to culminate the celebration and to achieve its goals which are to deepen the appreciation for books, exhibit the writing and visual art skills, expand students’ vocabulary, encourage accurate word usage, develop skill in oral language and all expressive mechanisms (voice and bodily expressions), promote teacher, students, and community relations and camaraderie, and gear up the students with values and meaningful life lessons.
Many activities were done to strengthen students reading ability to become productive citizens of the country, and fruitful intellectual consumers of San Juan National High School. Those were made into reality through the passion and determination of the English Department teachers led by their head teacher, Mrs. Maria Aileen B. Callorina and the adviser of the English Club, Mr. Jorge G. Ulanday.
