SDO San Juan City Participates in the First NCR K to 12 Conference

SDO San Juan headed by the OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, CESE, participated in the First Regional K to 12 Conference with the year’s theme, “Quality and Sustainable Education For All”. The much-awaited regional event was finally culminated at Bayview Park and Hotel, Ermita Manila last July 6-7, 2017.

On the first day of the activity, the Opening Program composed of the National Anthem, Doxology and the NCR Hymn was performed by DepEd-NCR Choral. It was followed by the Recognition of Guests and Delegates done by Mr. Wilfredo E. Cabral, SDS Manila, OIC. The Opening Remarks and Introduction of the Keynote Speaker was done by Dr. Ponciano A. Menguito, Director IV. He formally introduced Usec. Jesus Mateo who represented the Secretary of Education, Hon. Leonor Magtolis-Briones.

In his message, Usec. Mateo highlighted the ten-point agenda of the President in which DepEd initiatives are anchored on this agenda. He also challenged the participants to continue serving DepEd with quality and dedication.

After the Opening program, all the delegates were transferred to breakaway sessions such as; Kinder to Grade 6: Best Practices in the Implementation of Inclusive Education, Junior High School; Best Practices in the Implementation of inclusive Education, SHS Program: Learning Environment and Governance: Best Practices in the Implementation of Inclusive Education (School Year 2016-2017), SHS Support: Partnership and Linkages.

The Regional Office selected SDO Personnel, School Heads and Teachers who took the challenge to serve as Synthesizer, Presenter, Reactor, Moderator or Participant during the sessions. From the group of participants, the following were tapped;

Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, our OIC-SDS was assigned to give the synthesis of the day’s proceedings on Parallel Sessions C-5 on the topic; SHS Program: Learning Environment and Governance: Best Practices in the Actual Implementation (SY 2016-2017).

Mr. Virgilio A. Santos, the chief-CID Unit of SDO San Juan served as the Reactor 2 in Parallel Sessions D-5. He gave his brilliant reaction to presenter 2 on the topic: SHS Support: Partnership and Linkages.

Mrs. Hernanda R. Santos, was the Presenter 2 for Parallel Session 1 (Block A).Her ten-minute presentation highlights the best practices of San Juan Elementary School and others schools in the Implementation of the Kindergarten Curriculum.

Mr. Jorge G. Ulanday, was one of the presenters 1 for Parallel Session 5 (Block B). His five- minute presentation highlights the best practices and achievements of San Juan City Division SPA. Currently, he teaches English subject in San Juan National High School.

Mrs. Abegail A. Soliman, was one of the presenters 1 for Parallel Session 5 (Block B). Her presentation showcases the best practices in teaching the K to 12 Curriculum of the Special Science Class Program of San Juan National High School. She is the Officer-In-Charge of the Special Science Class of SJNHS to date.

Mrs. Ma. Aileen B. Callorina, served as the Reactor 2 for the presentation of the Presenter 2 from SDO Pasay on SHS Program, Learning Environment and Governance: Best Practices in the Actual Implementation ((SY 2016-2017). At present, she is the OIC of the Senior High School of San Juan National High School.

Mr. Andrew E. Tan, was the Presenter 2 on Parallel Sessions C-5. His presentation attempts to provide some of the best practices of the private school he is currently serving in the implementation of the SHS under the K to 12 Basic Education Program such as Early Registration, LIS and Voucher. He is the School Head of Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy, one of the performing private schools in San Juan City.

Ms. Marina F. Aunzo, she served as the Moderator for Block A: Parallel Sessions A-2 on the topic, Ways That the Divisions Have Been Successful in Implementing Multigrade/Madrasah/IPs. She is the School Head of Pedro Cruz Elementary School.

Dr. Emma A. Sendiong- she served as the Moderator on Parallel Sessions D-3 on the topic, Senior High School: Partnership and Linkages.

The activity was also participated in by Mrs. Flordelisa D. Pereyra, ASDS, Mrs. Helen G. Padilla, Education Program Supervisor for Science, Mrs. Amelita C. Panelo, Education Program Supervisor for TLE/EPP, Mrs. Elsa L. Gella, Division SPED Coordinator, Mrs. Lucila G. Artuyo, School Head, San Juan National High School, Mr. Vito L. Mengote, School Head, Sta. Lucia Elementary School, Dr. Nonita Y. Sajo, School Head, San Juan Elementary School and Mr. Cesar A. Camayra, School Head, San Perfecto Elementary School.

The Regional Director, Dr. Ponciano A. Menguito challenged all the participants headed by their Schools Division Superintendents to replicate the regional activity in their respective Divisions to share best practices and to gain relevant insights in some areas of curriculum implementation and school operations.

The 1st DepEd-NCR K to 12 Conference gathered more than 700 Regional, Division Officials and School Heads all over the National Capital Region to reportthe progress of various strategies employed for the progress of various strategies employed for the promotion and implementation of the K to 12 Program, specifically, the Senior High School.

The two-day conference provided the participants with updates on the Division’s efforts in the region-wide implementation of SHS, as well as showcase the best practices on how challenges were met and issues addressed from Kinder to Junior High School, and on strengthening network and linkages with different organizations and institutions.

It is with the hope that whatever learning generated from this activity will be used in our continuous search for excellence, PARA SA BATA, PARA SA BAYAN.
