SDO SAN JUAN CONDUCTS DIVISION RE-ORIENTATION IN FOOD HANDLING AND SAFETY SEMINAR FOR CANTEEN PERSO



The SDO San Juan City conducted the Division Re-Orientation in Food Handling and Safety Seminar for Canteen Personnel last 24 May 2019 at San Juan National High School- Audio Visual Room.


The purpose of this activity is to Re-orient the canteen personnel on DO no. 8, s. 2007, Revised Implementing Guidelines on the Operation and Management of School Canteens in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools and DO No. 13, s. 2017 and Policy and Guidelines on Healthy Food and Beverage Choices in Schools and in DepEd Offices. The expected outputs are the implementation of what they will learn in their respective workplace, additional information and a well-trained canteen manager in making reports to be submitted on time.



Ms. Kristel Lumanog, our Nutritionist from the Local Government Unit of San Juan City discussed the Food Handling and Safety in Food, as well as the 10 Kumainments. Mr. Timoty Layco also from LGU talked on how to secure Sanitary Permit and Health certificate, when and how is the validity of the health certificate. He said that securing permit is done every first quarter of the year. Ms. Via May Popes discussed the DepEd No. 13, s. 2017, and also the


Canteen Monitoring and Evaluation Tools. Mr. James Eduard Tuzon discussed the proper disbursement and liquidation of the feeding which were downloaded from the Central Office. Ms. Virginia Estrella discussed about the canteen and feeding reports, together with the attachments like receipts, how to come up with a balance computation from the daily expenses up to the distribution of percentage of Supplementary feeding program for undernourished pupils/students (35%,) School clinic fund (5%), Faculty and student development fund (15%), HE instructional fund (10%), School operations fund (25%), Revolving capital (10%).



It is expected that all Canteen Managers as well as the School Heads have a clear understanding on the different DepEd Order that the school will follow and the dates of submission of all reports.
