The Boy Scouts of the Philippines National Capital Region Chapter, pursuant to the 2018 Calendar of Scouting Event and Observances, holds the conduct of the following Advanced Training Courses (Wood badge) for Troop Leaders and Outfit Advisers last April 22-29, 2018 at Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna. The Advance Training Course is a scouting program for adult leaders to learn the different skills and methods of scouting. The Office of the schools Division Superintendent Officer-in-charge Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, sent seven participants to the superior training known as “Wood Badge”.

The delegates of SDO San Juan assembled at the SDO ground and travelled around 7:00 a.m. to Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna to catch the early registration for six troop leaders and one outfit adviser, unfortunately upon reviewing the number of participants per council, it was found out that the Metro Manila East Council exceeded participants in troop leader, so the group decided that the two troop leaders should not go home and accept the challenge to continue as outfit adviser.

The participants of the training were directed to supervise their respective troop or crew to build their camps and slept in tents for eight to nine days after they completed the training. Throughout the camping stint, the participants developed camaraderie, unity and scouting spirit which are actually the very purpose of such undertaking. This training has prepared them to be responsible troop leaders and outfit advisers as they go back to their respective stations or schools.
